Meet Clare

I’m Dr Clare Canty, a clinical psychologist, and founder of Floreo Child & Family Psychology, with over 15 years experience working with children and families across public health, not-for-profit, and private practice settings.

I work with children from infancy, and early childhood through the primary years, supporting emotional wellbeing, learning, behaviour, and developmental understanding in a way that feels thoughtful, practical, and manageable for families.

I hold a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of Melbourne and have worked across public health, community, and private practice settings. I am AHPRA registered and a member of the Australian Psychological Society, with practice endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in clinical psychology.

My experience, which includes work within children’s mental health services at the Royal Children’s Hospital, eating disorder services at Barwon Health, not-for-profit child and family services, as well as extensive private practice, has focussed on supporting children and families across a wide range of emotional, behavioural, developmental, and learning presentations, including comprehensive psychological and educational assessments.

As a clinical psychologist working with children and families in Camberwell, Melbourne, my approach is grounded in curiosity, connection, and taking the time to understand each child within the context of their broader world.

Support often involves not only working directly with the child, but also helping the adults around them feel clearer and more confident in how to respond across home, school, and everyday life.

My aim is for children to feel understood — and for the adults around them to feel clearer and more confident in how to support them.

Outside of work, my life is shared with children, family, and a very enthusiastic Boxer dog — all of which continually reinforce the importance of connection, flexibility, humour, and emotional repair in everyday life.
